Temporary Registration

If you are ill while away from home or if you are not registered with a  local doctor but need to see one, you can receive  treatment from a local GP Practice for up to 3 months. To do this you must register as a Temporary Patient with the Practice.

The Practice will require details of your current address in Dundee, your current GP Practice (where you are permanently registered) and confirmation of your Identity. You can remain on the Practices patient list as a Temporary Patient for up to 3 months. After 3 months  you will need to register as a permanent patient if you wish to receive further treatment from  the Practice.

To register as a temporary patient simply contact the local practice you wish to use.

Please note Practices do not have to accept you as a temporary patient although they do have an obligation to offer emergency treatment.

You cannot register as a temporary patient at a practice in the town or area where you are already registered.
